Yahoo on Friday announced that Jim Lanzone, the former CBS Interactive executive who most recently served as CEO of the dating app Tinder, has been named CEO of the company, effective Sept. 27.

Why it matters: Yahoo was bought by private equity giant Apollo Global Management earlier this year. Leadership changes were expected following the closing of the deal on Sept. 1.

Details: Guru Gowrappan, who has until now served as CEO of Yahoo, has been named senior adviser to Apollo’s private equity business.

What they're saying: "With his experience and proven management skills, we are confident Jim is the right leader to steward Yahoo through a transformational new phase that can leverage the best of Yahoo’s platform and performance to reach new heights,” said Yahoo chair and Apollo partner Reed Rayman, in a statement.
