Spain's Alberto Ginés López on Thursday won the first-ever Olympic gold medal in combined sport climbing.
The big picture: American Nathaniel Coleman won the silver and Austria's Jakob Schubert took the bronze in the combined men's event.
- Sport climbing was one of several Olympic events introduced this year in an effort to attract younger audiences.
