Golfer Xander Schauffele won gold for Team USA at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Sunday.

The big picture: It's Team USA's "first Olympic gold in an individual event in this sport since 1900," per an International Olympic Committee statement. Schauffele won the event by one shot, leaving Slovakia's Rory Sabbatini with silver. There was a seven-way play-off for the bronze medal.
