Phil Mickelson held on for a two-shot win in the final round at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, South Carolina, to clinch the U.S. PGA Championship Sunday.

Why it matters: Mickelson, who turns 51 next month, is the oldest golfer to win a major tournament. The previous record was set by another American golfer, Julius Boros, who won the 1968 PGA Championship when he was 48. This is Mickelson's sixth major title.
