Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said in Mississippi Monday night she would support a plan to replace the Electoral College system with a national popular vote.

What she's saying: “I believe we need a constitutional amendment that protects the right to vote for every American citizen and makes sure that vote gets counted," she told a CNN town hall in Jackson — noting presidential candidates didn't tend to campaign in states like Mississippi, which are not Electoral College battlegrounds. "And the way we can make that happen is that we can have national voting and that means get rid of the Electoral College."
