Snapchat's parent company may be gearing up to release a new version of its connected eyewear, Spectacles, according to a newly published FCC document first spotted by Variety.

Why it matters: This is a bold move on Snap's part — its first version of Spectacles didn't sell as well as the company had hoped, and it took a $40 million write down for excess inventory as a result.

Details: The document doesn't reveal much, except support for faster file transfer via Wifi, and likely a redesigned frame. Last month, Cheddar reported that the company is working on two new versions of the eyewear — one that will be waterproof and have minor improvements, and one with two cameras and more high-end features that could be priced at $300.
