Jake Tapper grills sheriff for failing Parkland students

CNN's Jake Tapper grilled Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel Sunday for failing to take responsibility for the series of mistakes that were made in the months leading up to the Parkland school shooting that left 17 dead.

"Are you really not taking any responsibility for the multiple red flags that were brought to the attention of the Broward Sheriff's office about this shooter before the incident? ... I don't understand how you can sit there and claim amazing leadership."
— CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" Sunday.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, also acknowledged that the local Sheriff's Department needs to do a better job of holding themselves accountable and being transparent:

"We have to do a thorough investigation and whoever didn’t do their job has to be held accountable.  I talk to law enforcement around the state — there’s no one I talk to that is not disgusted that the local sheriff’s deputy that was there did not go in and kill that individual. "
