President Trump outlined his preferred gun control measures in a morning tweet, suggesting that he wants Congress to move forward on comprehensive background checks, an increase in the age for rifle ownership, and a bump stock ban.

Earlier this morning, Trump doubled down on his controversial suggestion yesterday at a White House listening session with school shooting victims that teachers be armed to increase school safety. In a series of tweets, Trump stated that "only the best" teachers with "military or special training" would be armed to serve as a deterrent.

What Trump said yesterday, which CNN included in full in its report:

"If you had a teacher who was adept with the firearm, they could end the attack very quickly ... This would be obviously only for people who were very adept at handling a gun, and it would be, it's called concealed carry, where a teacher would have a concealed gun on them. They'd go for special training and they would be there and you would no longer have a gun-free zone."
