While the company hopes a new layout will make the app easier to use, especially for older folks, loyal younger users are complaining that it's become more confusing. Many also say it interfered with their "streaks," the app's competitive feature for sending messages to friends frequently.
Déjà vu: Years ago, Facebook faced a similar cycle of user anger over significant design changes, beginning with the introduction of the News Feed in 2006. In general, users eventually got used to the new features and carried on using the service, likely the outcome Snap is hoping for.
