Republican David Yancey wins Virginia House race after all

Republican David Yancey has officially won the closely-watched battle for Virginia's House of Delegates seat after his name was drawn out of a bowl Thursday. It's the latest process in the extremely unusual election after a December recount declared Shelly Simonds the winner by one vote, until a three-judge panel declared the two candidates were tied.

Why it matters: Yancey's victory in the tie-breaker lets the GOP hang onto their slim control of the chamber. If Simonds had won, control would have been split 50-50.
