A three-judge panel counted a disputed ballot in 94th House District race and awarded a vote to Republican incumbent Del. David Yancey, which caused a tie with his Democrat opponent, the Virginia Pilot reports.
Why it matters: Yesterday, Democrat Shelly Simonds took the Virginia House of Delegates seat from Yancey after a recount had her in the lead by a single vote. With today's development, the legislature now has a rare 50-50 split.
What's next: The local electoral board in Virginia will determine "by lot which of the candidates shall be declared elected."
