China has added Pinterest to its long list of Western social media sites that are banned in its country. According to data from GreatFire, a censorship monitoring organization, the photo-sharing site has been unavailable in China for the past 7 days.
As TechCrunch points out, the fact that Pinterest has been inaccessible for a week now suggests that it has been very deliberately blocked. But it's unclear why China would choose to censor the site, which is known for sharing recipes and photos of home furniture, among other things.
