State Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has secured the spot as West Virginia's Republican Senate candidate, per the NYT. He will take on Democratic incumbent, Senator Joe Manchin in the fall.

The state of play: Morrisey took on Rep. Evan Jenkins and former coal mining executive Don Blankenship, who conceded the race and was highly scrutinized for a racially-charged campaign ad against Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell. Trump, who won the state by 42 points, urged Republicans Monday to vote against Blankenship.
