Heritage Foundation names Kay Coles James as next president

The Heritage Foundation has named Kay Coles James, former director of the Office of Personnel Management under George W. Bush and a senior member of President Trump's transition team, as their new president. She will officially take the reins from founder Edwin Feulner on Jan. 1, who has been serving as president since former Sen. Jim DeMint resigned in May.

Context: DeMint was pushed out of his role at Heritage in the spring, according to Politico, because several key board members and advisors felt he had made the conservative think tank too political. But James, who's served on Heritage's board of trustees since 2005 and led the search committee for the new president, has been close to the organization for years and will be able to represent Heritage's core values.
