The Senate confirmed Gail Slater to lead the Justice Department's antitrust division by a 78-19 vote on Tuesday.
The big picture: Slater's confirmation comes as the division presses forward with a major competition case against Google and an ongoing case against Apple.
Slater is well respected on a bipartisan basis, and sailed through the confirmation process.
She's had stints in the tech industry, the first Trump White House and the Senate with then-Sen. JD Vance.
During her confirmation hearing, she said she'd get up to speed on the antitrust cases and press on.
What's next: With a new antitrust chief confirmed, it will soon become clearer where the Trump administration may or may not diverge from Biden on Big Tech competition cases.
