The White House is pulling the nomination of Janette Nesheiwat to be surgeon general one day before she was scheduled to have her confirmation hearing before the Senate HELP Committee, according to congressional aides.
The big picture: The reasons for her withdrawal weren't clear, but the former Fox News contributor had faced questions about her credentials.
CBS reported in April that she graduated from a medical school in the Caribbean, not the University of Arkansas, as she had claimed.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the HELP Committee site had been updated to remove her name from Thursday's hearing.
