President Trump announced Wednesday he'll nominate Casey Means, an ally of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to replace Janette Nesheiwat as surgeon general nominee.
Why it matters: The move, just hours after the Nesheiwat nomination was pulled, will help Kennedy broaden his power by installing another supporter of his ideas in a key public health role.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that Means will "work closely" with Kennedy "to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda in order to reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic, and ensure Great Health, in the future, for ALL Americans."
He said Kennedy "looks forward to working with Dr. Janette Nesheiwat in another capacity at HHS."
