Republicans are edging closer to total control of Congress, while Democrats picked up some key Senate seats to limit the Republican majority in the upper chamber.
Why it matters: Republicans have the upper hand, but the margins will factor into fights for nominees, legislation and the fate of the IRA.
Zoom in: In the Senate races we told you to watch, Democrats Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Jacky Rosen of Nevada won their races since our last update Thursday, according to the AP.
- But incumbent Bob Casey of Pennsylvania lost a tight race against GOP challenger Dave McCormick, the AP decided.
As of 2pm ET, Republicans are just four wins away from controlling the House, according to an AP tracker.
- Democrats in California, Arizona and Alaska are all trailing in the races we're watching.
- Iowa Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks declared victory against Democrat Christina Bohannan, but the race remained too close for the AP to call.
At the state level, voters in Washington rejected a ballot measure to repeal the state's cap-and-trade law.
- California voters approved a $10 billion bond issue for climate resilience and wildfire prevention.
- And in Louisiana, voters signed off on a measure to direct federal leasing money from the Outer Continental Shelf to coastal protection projects.
