Axios Denver Weekender

October 02, 2026
πΆοΈ Happy almost weekend!
- It's Alayna, with a look at the new Denver festival bringing lots of local music to the Baker neighborhood.
π§ Sounds like: "Back and Forth" by Vanna Blue.
Todayβs newsletter is 742 words β a 3-minute read.
1 big thing: πΆ Party on the porch
The porches of the Baker neighborhood will transform into stages on Saturday for the city's first-ever PorchFest.
Why it matters: The new event gives local musicians a bigger audience, nudges Denverites beyond their playlists and brings thousands of customers to Baker businesses.
πΈ By the numbers: The free, volunteer-run festival features 192 local artists performing across 80-plus porches, lawns, driveways, garages and more.
- Organizers tell us attendance could hit 20,000.
State of play: Unlike some PorchFests in other cities that organize performances into genre-specific zones, Denver's version is mixing things up.
- Spokesperson James Richard Lane describes it as a "multicultural discovery festival," with different sounds spread throughout the neighborhood to encourage attendees to stumble onto something new.
π Zoom in: Dailey Park (1 S. Cherokee St.) will serve as the hub, with food trucks, a beer garden and arts and crafts vendors.
- And Cookie Factory (425 W. 4th Ave.) will have food and drinks, plus live performances.
π If you go: PorchFest runs from noonβ7pm Saturday. It's free (though donations are encouraged) and open to all ages.
- Several streets will be closed, and portable restrooms will be available.
- Organizers recommend downloading the Denver PorchFest app to navigate closures and plan your musical crawl.
- Leashed pets are welcome. Chairs are, too.
π§Ή Yes, and: The party continues Sunday morning with a neighborhood cleanup.
- Snooze will serve volunteers breakfast at 9am before a final neighborhood sweep starts at 10am. RSVP.
