New details have emerged about the VIP terminal slated for Dulles.
The big picture: This comes after President Trump announced a $22.5 billion plan earlier this summer to overhaul the airport.
Driving the news: The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Tuesday that it's going ahead with plans for a separate terminal for big-name fliers craving privacy.
- It's working with airport management group daa International to develop and operate the project.
State of play: Visitors will enter the 37,000-square-foot terminal via a private parking area. The entrance, independent of the main concourse, will have its own private security screening.
- Renderings of the space also show a bar and lounge, as well as a garden terrace.
- VIPs will also have their own check-in and transportation directly to the gate and plane.
The intrigue: The VIP terminal is different from the area where big-wigs board private jets. This is for high-rollers who are flying commercial, but don't want to schlep it by a Sbarro.
What we're watching: The terminal will be developed over a 30-month period, per the release — though the launch date is TBD.
