Sushi push pops are coming to Commanders games

Out: Sushi burritos. In: Sushi push pops (yes, really).

Why it matters: The Commanders are tapping into one of this year's buzziest food trends: a handheld twist on sushi that's popping up everywhere from restaurants to concerts.

How it works: Think Push-Up ice cream from the '90s — except it's stuffed with sushi instead of sugar. A tube of soy sauce doubles as the stick, moving the roll up as you eat and seasoning bites.

Driving the news: Levy, the stadium vendor behind viral concessions around the country like charcuterie cones and gold-covered bacon, says it's the first to bring customized sushi push pops to sports.

On the menu: Northwest Stadium's pops star a Maryland blue crab roll with avocado, flying fish roe and "fiery corn puffs," all tucked into a custom Commanders-branded tube.

Price and vendor location TBA.

What they're saying: The goal is a concession that "breaks the barrier for what's possible to enjoy while at a football game," Levy tells Axios.
