D.C. will get Washington Commanders license plates

State of play: The Department of Motor Vehicles will get to work on a speciality plate for the NFL team, just like ones for the Nats and Mystics, after council members passed a bill on Tuesday.

• The DMV chief already predicts it'll be in "high demand."

How it works: Speciality tags can be requested from the DMV for a fee.

• Proceeds ($25 one-time, then $20 annually) will go to D.C.'s fund for youth sports and activities, whereas plates for other teams go to the city's general fund.

What's ahead: DMV says you can snag one as early as 3-6 months from the council's final sign-off, expected in late July.

• There's talk about honoring its glory days at the new stadium, where the interior design is still TBD.
