America 250 alternatives emerge in D.C.

State of play: The protest group No Kings is hosting a First Amendment-oriented concert in New York on June 14 — aka President Trump's birthday and the same day as the White House UFC fight.

• Watch parties and rallies are planned that day across the country. So far, there are two slated for the DMV in Rockville and Frederick.

The group All of U.S. 250 will host country-wide rallies and protests on June 27 to "reject the whitewashing of our past and future."

• There will be a D.C. event that day, though TBD on location.

Meanwhile, the D.C. restaurant community has decided to host its own "Eat 250" celebration from June 14-28 after leaders say they were largely excluded from the federal-level planning.

What they're saying: "Out of the lack of conversations, we decided to do our thing to make sure our people had a seat at the table," Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington president Shawn Townsend tells Axios.
