Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff to summer, but the D.C.-area forecast is reading more "indoor plans" than "rooftop pool party."
Why it matters: If you're going to be stuck inside over a long weekend, at least you can do something fun.
State of play: Begin the weekend by celebrating the start of D.C. Black Pride Thursday with events like the Unity Ball, the Mr. & Miss D.C. Black Pride Pageant and a comedy show — plus more running across the weekend. (Ticket prices vary)
If you're feeling artsy and indoorsy, check out actor Wendell Pierce of "The Wire" in the Shakespeare Theatre Company's production of "Othello," running through June 28. (Ticket prices vary)
- Also: Swing by the new National Gallery of Art exhibit, "Beneath the Surface: Mining and American Photography," opening Saturday. (Free)
Celebrate AAPI month at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art's IlluminAsia Festival: Friday, check out a Bruce Lee film screening alongside a live DJ, and Saturday, there's a book fair for kiddos followed by a larger book bash and a dance party. (Free, register in advance)
Wanna get your dance on inside? Get tix to an Abba-inspired dance party at the 9:30 Club. ($32.50)
But if you do feel like braving the outdoor elements…
🎶 Wail along to "Message in a Bottle" as Sting performs at Wolf Trap on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (Ticket prices vary)
⚽️ Poncho up to watch D.C. United take on CF Montréal on Saturday at Audi Field. (Ticket prices vary)
💐 Head to Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday for its Flowers of Remembrance Day, or go on Monday for its National Memorial Day Observance. (Free)
🇺🇸 Also on Monday: The Freedom 250 National Memorial Day Parade will be getting patriotic on Constitution Avenue. (Free)
