• Expect more commercials and mailers involving the frontrunners before the June 16 Democratic primary.

The other side: At a debate this week, McDuffie said he wants low-income residents to be automatically enrolled in utility affordability programs.

• He says he wants to rein in electricity bills by making sure data centers are "responsible for the increases."

Reality check: Last month, I fact-checked the Pepco blame game going on in the mayor's race, and whether either frontrunner can be directly blamed for pricey bills.

• Most of the increases are due to skyrocketing demand from AI and data centers, raising the price of electricity on the regional market.
