A Julia Child-inspired cooking school is coming to Georgetown

State of play: Like Julia Child, founder Kelly Singer sharpened her skills as a Paris expat.

• Now she's opening her space at 3246 Prospect St. NW, just blocks from Child's former Georgetown home.
• The vibe: cozy and immersive — more dinner party than industrial kitchen.

What to expect: A souped-up kitchen full of pro tools (Mauviel copper cookware, Wolf equipment), plus a pastry atelier and dining salon.

What they're saying: "I really wanted to create an intentional place where serious home chefs can come in and level up their cooking skills, or learn a new set," Singer tells Axios.

Zoom in: Most classes will run around 2.5 hours (starting at $250), including:

• Core techniques and knife skills
• French pastry and fresh pasta
• Kids programming and guest chef residencies

Between the lines: Skillette is also leaning into "mini culinary school" experiences:

• A multi-day Mid-Atlantic program spotlighting local ingredients.
• A Julia Child Masterclass — in partnership with her foundation — built around "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."

What's next: Skillette is hosting classes at La Cosecha, and will be at the Georgetown French Market (April 24-26) selling oils, salts and cookbooks.
