Several D.C. chefs are swapping aprons for major TV shows — and one premieres tonight with a $1 million prize.

Driving the news: Chris Morgan of Tysons' Persian standout Joon makes his national debut tonight at 9:30pm on CBS's "America's Culinary Cup" — Padma Lakshmi's new, high-stakes competition.
- Bouncing back after her long "Top Chef" run, Lakshmi is going big: 16 big-deal chefs and head-to-head challenges.
Monday: "Top Chef" heads to the Carolinas for Season 23, premiering on Bravo and blending Southern flavors with signature drama.
- Speaking of drama! Jonathan Dearden, a corporate chef with Knead Hospitality + Design (Mi Vida, The Grill) is competing against his identical twin brother, Brandon.
- Rising star Anthony Jones of Marcus DC is bringing his own flair — a melding of local and diaspora flavors — to the Bravo kitchen.
Between the lines: Fans can now stream the premiere on Peacock, Bravo's YouTube channel, and VOD.
🎂 For dessert: Silver Spring native Rochelle Cooper of Capitol Hill favorites The Duck & the Peach and La Collina, appears on Food Network's "The Ultimate Baking Championship," premiering Monday.
