Hollywood hotshot Jon Bernthal recently dropped $3.75 million on a home in Chevy Chase, D.C., real estate sources tell Axios — a sign "The Punisher" is planting roots back home.
Why it matters: In a town where senators count as celebrity sightings, "The Bear" and "Walking Dead" star showing up at Wizards games and beloved red-sauce joints qualifies as actual star power.
State of play: The Montgomery County native scooped up a 10,480-square-foot house in one of D.C.'s most prominent residential enclaves — better known for spacious bungalows and Supreme Court justices (hi, Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts) than Marvel antiheroes.
- The home with a wraparound porch has three wood-burning fireplaces and a heated garage — more Chevy Chase polish than Hollywood flash.
The intrigue: Bernthal may have burned up screens in Netflix #1 chart topper "His & Hers," and will battle mythical forces in this summer's blockbuster "The Odyssey" alongside Matt Damon and Zendaya. But his D.C. life skews low-key.
- The actor who's famous for breaking his nose 14 times grew up a fighting Quaker — a '95 Sidwell Friends grad who made "a lot of stupid mistakes" before he found acting, per an interview with an Ojai magazine.
- He met his wife, Erin Angle, at a Washington party while she was working as a trauma nurse at Georgetown University Hospital.
- The two have been married for over 15 years and have three kids.
