'Tis the season to spend $20 on gingerbread-flavored cocktails — aka it's holiday pop-up bar season.
Why it matters: Book tickets or make reservations in advance where you can — if there's one thing D.C. loves, it's a holiday bar.
State of play: Here's where to get your seasonal sips in D.C.:
❄️ Snowglow at The Dome: Hi-Lawn — Union Market's rooftop bar — is transforming its spherical dome into a December dream through Jan. 4, with seasonal cocktails (a la eggnog, spiked hot chocolate and an "Abominable Snowgroni") plus visual projections of winter scenes. (Reservations required, $23-$29 reservation fee)
🕎 Ivy and Coney: The Chicago-forward bar will be back for another year with its "Chai-vy and Cohen-y" Hanukkah pop-up starting Dec 1. Get ready for Manischewitz, latkes, and shots out of the "shotnorah."
🎅 Duke's Grocery: Each Duke's location — and its sister bar, Problem Child — will be revamped into a holiday pop-up starting Dec. 4, with themes like "Bamboo Land" (Woodley Park), "The North Pole" (Potomac) and "Gingerbread Land" (Dupont Circle).
🎄 The Commodore: The Dupont Circle bar is back with its "A Christmas Carol"-themed pop-up, starting Dec. 2. Inside, find spaces decked out to look like a Victorian tavern and the rooms of Christmases present and yet to come.
🫢 Tiki on 18th: The Adams Morgan bar is going full sexy Santa with its "Naughty List" pop up, running through Jan. 5. Tongue-in-cheek is the name of the game here, with cocktails like "Snicker on This Doodle" and mischievous decor.
🍸 Morris American Bar: Head to Mount Vernon Triangle for this "Elf on the Shelf"-themed pop-up starting Dec. 5, complete with North Pole vibes, drinks like the "Coal Fashioned" and afternoon slots reserved just just families with kiddos. (Reservations required, $15 reservation fee for adult event)
🌵 Lulu's Winegarden: Sip vino and seasonal drinks at this Southwest-inspired holiday pop-up (cactus Christmas trees!) running through Jan. 11 off U Street, with cozy bites like tortilla soup and Christmas enchiladas.
