This new Shaw bar is drawing crowds for cheap martinis and club sandwiches

Driving the news: Eeebee's Corner Bar has been drawing lines in Shaw since opening last week.

• Credit an Insta-worthy burger, throwback vibe, late-night food and icy martinis starting at $13 (guests can upgrade to top-shelf spirits like Old Raj for $2).

Zoom in: Owner and industry vet Emily Brown tells Axios she took inspiration from her favorite haunts like Old Ebbitt and McSorley's in New York City for her own place — hence the sherry-spiked crab dip and light-and-dark pints on tap.

• Just because you can get a cheap Hi-Life doesn't mean Brown's skimping on the details. Take a club sandwich whose layers took a year to perfect.
• Or a magazine rack stacked with glossies for solo sippers who don't want to be glued to a phone. And "big, beautiful, sexy" ice for drinks.

Also, a very cool bathroom lovingly plastered with vintage baseball memorabilia.

What they're saying: Brown says she's "a little bit in shock" by Eebee's instant popularity, and chalks it up to being a "scrappy" locals' bar.

• "There are so many outside restaurant groups coming in — and I like a lot of those places — but it's nice to go somewhere where a real person you can meet has poured their living soul into the place."
