Michelin just added eight new DC restaurants to its guide — a teaser before the big Star and Bib Gourmand reveals on November 18.
Why it matters: Even if these restaurants don't win a star or bib — Michelin's most prestigious awards — it's a big deal to be included in the little red book.
Driving the news: The eight newcomers include everything from a casual pho shop to a pricey omakase counter — a big variety!
- Your Only Friend (Shaw): A D.C. fave sandwich and cocktail bar.
- Fish Shop (Wharf): Scottish-born newcomer specializing in local fin fare.
- Raw Omakase (Logan Circle): Chef Johnny Yi's Japanese tasting room.
- Karravaan (Union Market): Brand new Spice Route-inspired spot from Pappe.
- La'Shukran (Union Market): Chef Michael Rafidi's Levantine vibe-spot.
- PhoXotic (Bloomingdale): Protein and marrow-forward pho and Vietnamese specialties.
- Providencia (H Street): Tiny, eclectic bar from the Maketto crew with Paola Velez's showstopper desserts.
- Elmina (14th Street): Celebrity chef Eric Adjepong's sleek Ghanaian restaurant.
What's next: The Nov. 18 awards will be hosted in Philadelphia, a new Michelin city.
