This week, the D.C. Board of Elections gave the OK to a proposed ballot initiative that would allow District residents to vote on whether to keep daylight saving time, reports the 51st's Martin Austermuhle.
Why it matters: Should the initiative appear on a ballot and get enough votes, D.C. would stop the whole "fall back, spring forward" thing.
Yes, but: The man behind the initiative, Daniel Bernier, still has more to do before it lands on a ballot, like collecting enough signatures from D.C. voters.
And then there's the whole issue of Virginia and Maryland being on different time zones.
"Would be fun scheduling trains or buses that leave VA @ 7am, arrive @ 6am in DC then arrive after 7am in MD. Just little things like that have to get worked out 🤔," WMATA head Randy Clarke posted on X.
