If you need a summer read, D.C.'s first-ever book vending machine is now up and running in Foggy Bottom.
Why it matters: The machine carries titles exclusively by D.C.-area authors.
State of play: Local author Lauren Woods launched LitBox — located in the Western Market food hall — as a way to highlight DMV writers. She funded the machine through a grant and a Kickstarter campaign.
There's a diversity in genre — think poetry to picture books — and price, with titles running between $9 to $28.
The first drop is all fiction, but offerings will rotate on a monthly basis.
If you go: LitBox is located at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave. NW.
