Black women-owned food marketplace pops up in Downtown D.C.

A marketplace devoted to Black women-owned food companies pops up at Eaton DC near Franklin Square on Friday from noon to 4pm.

State of play: The pop-up, which features 20 local and national vendors, is part of the sold-out Black Women in Food Summit.

Market tickets are $25, which include access to a Dine Around event on Saturday.

Zoom in: The market highlights products for energy, wellness, and happy deliciousness from companies like Shuga x Ice and Teff & Co. It speaks to the summit's theme, "Limitless: Making Room for Abundance."

In this tough climate, "people are feeling constrained," co-founder Nina Oduro of Dine Diaspora tells Axios. "Their thoughts, dreams and opportunities feel smaller. We've created space to think less about smallness, and more about solutions and opportunities."
