Nationals Park is the fifth most walkable MLB stadium.
The big picture: The ballpark built in 2008 kickstarted a Navy Yard construction boom which continues to emanate toward Buzzard Point.
How it works: Walk Score rates walkability based on pedestrian friendliness and proximity to amenities. Population density and road metrics are also considered.
A score of 69 or above does not require a car and reflects how easy it is to walk to a location or use public transportation. A "walker's paradise" is a score of 90 or above.
Nats Park almost hits a home run with a score of 92.
Between the lines: The Nationals want to spiffy up the stadium's entrance and the empty space outside.
The team unveiled renderings last month that include turning center field gates into a year-round plaza and building a pedestrian connection to the Anacostia River. The project is still in the concept phase.
