Snow day food and drink specials are coming out faster than the flakes — here's where to find hot cocktails, cheap eats, all-day happy hour and bars opening early.
The intrigue: Even after the snow clears, we're in for a frigid week. A great excuse for drinks by the fire!
The Roost (Capitol Hill): The food hall is throwing a snow day party with free hot cocoa and eggnog, kids movies (and Wi-Fi for working parents), and specials like $5 Shelter drafts and $13 Red Apron grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Union Pub (Capitol Hill): The bar opens early at 3pm for $9 hot toddies, Irish coffees and spiked cocoa.
Barrel (Capitol Hill): Head to the bourbon bar for $12 hot toddies, Irish coffees and more specials.
The Queen Vic (H Street): Opens early at noon with hot, boozy drink specials.
The Pug (H Street): Everything's $1 off! Bar opens early at 1:30pm.
Last Call Bar (Union Market): The divey spot opens early at 1pm for $8 Irish coffees, hot toddies and spiked cocoa.
Carmine's (Penn Quarter): A big all-day happy hour menu includes discount cocktails/beer/wine ($6-$8), $5 sliders, $8 appetizers (e.g. calamari, burrata, fried ravioli) and $10 meat and cheese boards.
Midlands (Park View): Bring a shovel, put in some work and get a free pint at the indoor/outdoor bar (offer valid until 3pm). It's $2 off hot drinks all day otherwise. Bar opens at noon and kitchen, 2pm.
Logan Tavern (Logan Circle): It's all-day happy hour in the bar area ($7 wines and local beers), and $9 cocktails including spiked cider and cocoa. First responders get free coffee. There's also a BOGO deal on UberEats.
Mission (Navy Yard): Happy hour runs from 4pm to close.
American Ice Co (U Street): All-night happy hour starts at 5pm with $5 hot cocktails and $2 off all wine.

The Commodore (Dupont Circle): Go for $10 "Irish-American" coffees (Jameson cold brew, Kahlua, bourbon whipped cream).
Unconventional Diner (Shaw): The regular weekday brunch (until 4pm) gets even better with $8 hot cider, virgin or spiked.
Shaw's Tavern (Shaw): Two words: bottomless rosé. Two hour limit, 11:30am-5pm.
L'Ardente and Love, Makoto (East End): Office closed? Now's a good chance to sneak away for an indulgent lunch at these sibling Italian and Japanese spots, both of which have half-priced specialty cocktails.
The Sovereign (Georgetown): Opens at 3pm for a $15 combo of French onion soup and choice of Belgian draft.
Evening Star Cafe (Alexandria): Opens early at 3pm for $4.50 well drinks and $8 sparkling cocktails.
Atlas Brew Works (Navy Yard, Alexandria): D.C. folks can get two slices of Andy's Pizza and a pint for $11, plus $6 select beers (12pm-6pm). Alexandria has the same deals for $1 less (3-6pm).
