This weekend in D.C., check out a holiday boat parade at The Wharf, an artisan Christmas market at Dupont Circle's Heurich House, and light displays in Franklin Park.
Holiday-themed parties, parades and pop-ups are in full swing around the DMV this weekend.
State of play: The city feels like one huge holiday village, with bars and winter lounges across town and holiday markets in several neighborhoods.
Here are several holiday festivities to check out:
1. 🚢 Annual Holiday Boat Parade and Party
- Watch more than 70 decorated boats sail down the Washington Channel and enjoy live music performances, holiday karaoke, pictures with Santa, ice skating and festive drinks from 6pm-9pm Saturday at The Wharf. Free.
- There is also the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade 11am-1pm Saturday in Old Town and the Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights at 5:30pm. Free.
2. 🖼️ Christmas Markt
- Visit an artisan craft market featuring more than 60 local makers from 4pm-8pm Friday, noon-8pm Saturday and noon-6pm Sunday at Dupont Circle's Heurich House. Free.
3. 🔔 Georgetown Jingle
- Enjoy the neighborhood's first outdoor holiday music event, featuring 10 live performances across Georgetown from 1pm-4pm Saturday. Free.
4. 🎤 Gay Men's Chorus Holiday Show
- Celebrate the holidays with a live theater performance at 3pm or 8pm Saturday at Lincoln Theatre. Tickets start at $20.
5. 🏇 Christmas in Middleburg Parade
- It's worth a drive to watch the hunt parade (11am) and a community parade (2pm) in Middleburg, Virginia. Free.
6. ❄️ Frosted at Franklin Park
- Enjoy a winter wonderland of light displays 4pm-2am now through Dec. 20 at 1315 I Street NW. Free.
Worthy of your time: Non-holiday events this weekend include DC Bar Guild's 15th Annual Repeal Day Ball on Saturday, showcasing the city's best bartenders and booze, and the French Wine Reception at the French Embassy on Friday, featuring a classical music concert.
