A huge new winter pop-up is coming to town: Snowglow at the Dome, an immersive alpine experience, bar and restaurant hosted in a 50-foot sphere atop Union Market.
Why it matters: If you've ever wanted to chill inside a snow globe, now's your chance.
How it works: The team behind Union Market's massive rooftop bar Hi-Lawn concocted The Dome, a new attraction that'll change themes seasonally. A high-tech projection system will immerse visitors in shifting visual landscapes and light displays.
- The first theme is Snowglow, a 90-minute European winter journey that draws on the Northern Lights, Swiss alpine villages, snow-laden landscapes and crackling fires.
- The heated 60-seat space will channel chic après ski vibes with warm woods, tartan textiles and cozy dining alcoves.
Zoom in: The food and drink here aim to be as high-level as the show. Chef Nathan Beauchamp (Tiger Fork, Calico) is behind the menu of European winter delicacies like Swiss raclette, sweet and savory fondue, lobster bisque, Danish-style smørrebrød sandwiches, and filet mignon for two.
- Hot cocktails are a given, but visitors can also opt for indulgences like tableside martini service and bottled walnut Manhattans.
If you go: Tickets ($35 per person) go live on Friday for the December opening and include a secluded dining pod, the 90-minute visual experience, and a welcome "liquid amuse." Food and drink are sold separately.
