Paralympic athletes from the DMV to watch in the Paris Games

State of play: Team USA's roster lists 10 athletes from Maryland and Virginia, plus more from the DMV with school ties.

They include:

🏊 Jessica Long, one of the most decorated Paralympic athletes with 16 gold medals, 8 silver, and 5 bronze. A Siberian native who grew up in Baltimore, she got an early start and was once the youngest athlete on the U.S. Paralympic Swim Team at 12.

🏀 Trevon Jenifer, a Maryland wheelchair basketball player who's won two Paralympic gold medals and one bronze as part of the team, starting in 2012.

👟 Tatyana McFadden, a 20-medal winner from Baltimore who competes in both winter and summer games, where she'll race in para track and field.

👟 Nick Mayhugh, a para track and field athlete from Manassas with three gold and one silver medal from the 2020 games.

⚔️ Noah Hanssen, a wheelchair fencer from Ellicott City who's a first-timer on Team USA.

How to watch: This is the first time that all 22 Paralympic sports will be broadcast live, now through the closing ceremony on Sept. 8.
