New summer happy hours are popping up around D.C.
Why it matters: Lighter summer workweeks mean you can actually take advantage of early (and late) deals.
🥟 Dim sum-style
- Chang Chang (Dupont Circle): Chef Peter Chang's new summer happy hour includes $8 wines, $6 beers, and ciders plus discount bites like bao, duck burgers, and dumplings. Mon-Thurs, 4:30-6:30pm, Fri and Sun, 3-5pm
🇮🇹 Aperitivo-style
- Aventino (Bethesda): It's an aperitivo power hour at the Roman hotspot, which pours $8 negronis and spritzes and serves $8 cicchetti like pizza bianca and fried gnocchi. Sun-Thurs, 5-6pm
💸 Under $1
- Hiraya (H Street): Chef Paolo Dungca's Filipino spot serves 50-cent lumpia spring rolls, plus $6 wings, and beers/wines/cocktails starting at $6. Tues-Sun, 5-7pm
🍕 Combo deal
- J&J Pizza (Union Market): Not every happy hour deal can fill you up, but the $12 combo at this New York-style pizzeria includes two slices and a beer. Mon-Fri until 6pm
🌚 Late-night
- Ceibo (Adams Morgan): The mod-Latin restaurant does late-night happy hour fit for foodies with $10 cocktails and bar plates like duck drumsticks. Fri-Sat, 10:30pm-1am
🍹 Margaritas
- El Presidente (Union Market): For anyone off work early, Stephen Starr's popular Mexican spot serves $10-and-under cocktails (margs, martinis) and snacks like esquite fries ($6) for happy hour. Mon-Fri, 3-6pm
🍷 Wine
- Primrose (Brookland): Sommelier Sebastian Zutant takes 25% off select bottles on Wednesdays, and given the quality of the list you can find some great deals.
