If you're the kind of person who's hell-bent on self-improvement come the new year, there are some new-ish local spots to check out.
Why it matters: We might not be L.A., but D.C. โ a city filled with people who definitely grind their teeth at night โ loves its stress-busting wellness and fitness practices.
๐ฆ Pure Sweat + Float Studio
This wellness company is opening its first D.C. location in Georgetown either later this month or in early February. Expect infrared saunas, float therapy tanks, and get-togethers and workshops with local health and wellness experts.
๐โโ๏ธFhitting Room
The New York-based strength and HIIT studio opened its first D.C. location last month in Dupont Circle. The space also shares amenities with the nearby New York Sports Club, meaning after you take a class, you can pop over to use the gym's equipment, locker rooms, or sauna.
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ The Tox
This lymphatic draining massage group is based out of L.A. (of course) and opened its first D.C. location in Georgetown this past summer. The spot says its massages improve circulation, reduce bloating, and flush out toxins, and they also offer firming facials using gua sha stones and sculpting wands.
๐๏ธ Wรธrk
This group started as an outdoor strength and agility workout during the pandemic, hosting classes at the Marie Reed Field in Adams Morgan. Since then, it's been offering pop-up classes at Union Market and it will open its first permanent indoor studio there this month.
Editor's note: This story has been updated to note that Pure Sweat + Float Studio is not offering cold plunges when it opens.
