It was 10 years ago today that the Vikings christened U.S. Bank Stadium with a nail-biting 17-14 win over the Packers in the building's first NFL regular season game.

Newly acquired quarterback Sam Bradford had a strong game, and the Vikings intercepted Aaron Rodgers to seal the deal with 2 minutes to go.

The big picture: U.S. Bank Stadium's signature translucent roof sparked a design revolution in the NFL, as I wrote about last year.

Six teams either have incorporated that type of roof into their stadium or are planning to do so.

Yes, but: In sports facilities years, the stadium is probably closer to 30 and has had its share of problems.

It needed a siding replacement after six years and now it needs a new roof because of a 2023 hailstorm.
