Fairview selling St. Paul Midway campus

What they're saying: "Midway is clearly experiencing long-overdue change and investment," St. Paul City Council Member Molly Coleman told Axios, "and this presents yet another opportunity to bring in new vibrancy, grow our tax base, and meet the needs of our residents."

• Fairview "has no preferred buyer and no predetermined plan for the site," a spokesperson told Axios.

State of play: Around 250 administrative employees work on the campus that once housed the headquarters for the former HealthEast Care System. It merged with Fairview almost a decade ago.

• Fairview's goal is to relocate those employees to remote work or other offices by year's end.

By the numbers: The campus' estimated market value is a combined $17 million, according to Ramsey County property tax records.

What we're watching: If anyone jumps on the site. Coleman said the city has "seen no shortage of interest in folks who are eager to build" in Midway and neighboring St. Anthony Park.

• "While it will be sad to see a part of the Midway history close, we're happy they will maintain a clinic in the Midway and look forward to the potential of the parcel," Midway Chamber of Commerce executive director Chad Kulas said.
