Embattled former DFL state Sen. Nicole Mitchell appears to be taking steps toward another run for office.
The big picture: The moves come less than a year after the Woodbury Democrat resigned following her conviction in a high-profile felony burglary case.
Driving the news: A disclosure on NicoleMitchell.org now reads "Prepared and paid for by Nicole Mitchell for Woodbury City Council."
- That quiet update, along with a series of recent photos and appearances, is fueling speculation about the Woodbury Democrat's plans.
Zoom in: The website's text, which no longer references campaigning for her former Senate district, emphasizes her record of public service. A section highlighting her legislative accomplishments remains.
- "I will continue that commitment to building a strong community where everyone has the opportunity to flourish," it reads.

Zoom out: Screenshots of Mitchell's Facebook posts obtained by Axios reference her door-knocking and attending a meet-and-greet for "down-ballot democratic candidates running in the Woodbury/Washington County races this fall."
What she's saying: Mitchell hasn't responded to emails, a text, or an X message Axios sent seeking comment.
- Her criminal defense lawyer has not responded to an email seeking comment.
Flashback: Last July, a jury found Mitchell guilty on charges of first-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools in connection with a 2024 middle-of-the-night break-in at her late father's home.
- Mitchell, a meteorologist and former lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard, was sentenced in September to six months in jail.
- She was released in January and is appealing her conviction and her restitution order.
Mitchell and her lawyer have previously argued that her actions were driven by concern over her stepmother's well-being.
What's next: Filing for Woodbury City Council races opens in July.
