Why it matters: Winter recreation could be decimated by this time next week thanks to a forecast filled with sun and highs in the upper 40s (maybe even 50!) tomorrow through Tuesday.
Flashback: The winter looked promising early for enthusiasts as nearly 24 inches of snow fell in November and December. But we've gotten less than six inches since.
As of yesterday, the snow depth at MSP Airport was around one inch, which won't last much longer if the forecast holds.
What we're watching: The end may be near for outdoor ice rinks as the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board stops maintaining them after President's Day.
🌈 The more you know: This doesn't mean winter is over. The Twin Cities typically gets nearly a foot of snow in March and April combined.
