1 throwback to go: Hanging up the clicker

Longtime Twin Cities meteorologist Paul Huttner will retire this spring, MPR News announced yesterday.

Huttner's forecasting career on local airwaves stretches back to 1988, when he first arrived at WCCO-TV.

• After a stint in Arizona and Chicago, Huttner returned for a two-decade-long run at MPR.

Flashback: Huttner solo-anchored Ch. 4's early coverage of the 1991 Halloween Blizzard as most of the station's talent struggled to reach the studios.

• "Turn this into the Weather Channel," Huttner's boss told him.
• "Cool," was his response.

Huttner's last day at MPR will be April 30. Happy trails, Paul!
