Many of Minnesota's top colleges and universities lost ground in this year's U.S. News rankings.
State of play: The 2026 Best Colleges report, released overnight, shows theUniversity of Minnesota dropping five spots in the national universities category.
St. Thomas, St. Catherine, Bethel and St. Scholastica also ranked lower than last year.
Saint Mary's in Winona bucked the trend, jumping up 13 spots.
On the liberal arts college front, Carleton dropped from 8th to 10th.
Macalester (No. 28) also slid two spots, while St. Olaf remained at 50 for the second consecutive year.
