Wuollet Bakery closes final remaining storefront

• The shop has been cleared of tables and baked goods. On Monday, there was construction equipment inside.
• A nearby business owner told Axios the cafe closed last week.

What they're saying: "We have come to the conclusion not to renew our lease," Wuollet's statement said, adding that products will still be available at sister bakeries A Baker's Wife and Hans' Bakery.

Between the lines: Wuollet has been plagued in recent years by financial troubles that include multiple eviction proceedings and lawsuits, the Minnesota Star Tribune wrote in December.

• Owner Eric Shogren, who bought the business in 2019, told the paper that the bakery was "restructuring" and not going out of business.

What's next: The bakery is "looking forward to the opening of some new retail locations in the future," according to the statement.
