π Torey here. I was ordering a cold brew one recent morning at Red Coral Coffee, the new daytime cafe inside Longfellow's Okome House, when I spotted a sign for matcha soft serve.
I was so intrigued that I went back after work to try it out.
It's not super sweet, though you can opt for a matcha/vanilla twist if you want to up the treat factor.
If you go: The strawberry whipped cream cake, stuffed with strawberry puree, ($5.50) is sublime. My kid inhaled it so quickly, I could barely get a bite in.
Pro tip: Okome House also serves Japanese fare such as delicious Donburi rice bowls, Udon noodles and Onigiri rice balls.
It has a kids' menu and is located a few blocks from both Minnehaha Falls and the Hiawatha School playground, making it a great spot for a bite after a family outing.
