Defending champion Frost face Ottawa in PWHL finals

The Professional Women's Hockey League has a unique playoff format, and it's the reason why the defending-champion Minnesota Frost are facing the Ottawa Charge in the finals Tuesday night.

The intrigue: The PWHL lets the top regular season team — this year, Montréal — pick its first-round opponent.

In the opening round, Montréal chose to face No. 3-seeded Ottawa instead of No. 4 Minnesota.

Catch up quick: The Charge responded by stunning Montréal in four games.

"You chose us!" Ottawa fans chanted at Montréal during their Game 4 win.

What we're watching: The Frost's scoring depth was key to their semifinal round takedown of Toronto.

All that offensive firepower will have to get past the Charge's rookie goaltender, Gwyneth Phillips, who had the best save percentage in the first round.

What's next: The puck drops on the best-of-five series on Tuesday at 6pm in Ottawa.

Game 3 in St. Paul is scheduled for Saturday night.
